The Selfish Prince part 11

Sebastian and Phelps were on their archery lesson when someone disturbed them. “Ah, dear Sebastian!” Suddenly a voice from a wicked witch. Sharon.
Both of them turned around and saw the woman, again, with a twelve inches of make ups. Sebastian quickly frowned and Phelps could only smile.
“Yes, my little sister in law to be?” Phelps grinned toward her.
“The king said that we were invited to a small party only for us couples. To celebrate us,” Sharon walked forward and took Sebastian’s arm. “I’m sure we’ll attend the party, but what about you, brother?”
Phelps smiled. “I’ll tell my fiancée to be about it.”

It was such a surprise that Alexander Keen decided to invite Vanz and Phelps to a small party along with Sebastian and Sharon to celebrate the couples. Vanz had rejected the invitation when she heard it first—not because she was shy, but because she was not ready with any answer to his proposal—but Phelps and Leonard somehow manage to assure her that it was okay to go to the party even though she was unsure of her answer.
The other problem that popped out instantly was that Vanz hardly could pick clothes from her own wardrobe—she wasn’t one of the princess and she definitely didn’t have any gown to wear for such a party. And if it wasn’t for the generous Leonard that bought her a nice white gown that fall loosely from her shoulder to her knees, she definitely wouldn’t attend the party.
But however, another problem came sooner than expected. The gown really did not cover the kiss marks made by Sebastian on her neck, which make it look worse in front of the king. After seeing her neck, he would ended up with two conclusion, that are, she was too caught up in emotion to Phelps, or she just cheated on him.
Drowned in a serious damn thing, she finally put on a scarf to cover her neck, just to make sure things go right.
The party was small, indeed, but it was from all points luxurious. The flowers were the combination of red rose—it was both Sebastian’s and Vanz’s favorite, Sebastian reminded the decorator to put it among the flowers and ended up to be dominating all of the decoration—and Snowdrop, which was Sharon’s option to put it there even though at the end Sebastian reduce the amount of it because it looked awful. The flowers were placed on the chairs, the besides the mirrors and on the center of the long glass table, exactly on a black and white rose-patterned china sat atop the lace tablecloth.
Vanz was rather amazed, or closer to shock, when the people that used to work with her greeted her politely like when they greeted the princes. She nearly cry when she saw Ian, smiling bitterly toward her as he greeted her.
“Dear, don’t you think Phelps’ fiancée was a bit familiar?” A small whisper caught by Vanz’s ears. In a second, she could determine who was talking. She glanced a bit to saw Sharon walking toward the table, holding tightly on Sebastian’s arm.
Sebastian, however, was looking so cool and handsome in a black tuxedo and red tie. Vanz could feel her heart clenched when she saw Sharon holding tight to Sebastian. Even though she was really sure that she hate that prince, she could not deny the strange feelings that rush toward her whenever the boy was around.
“Of course you are familiar with her,” Sebastian replied. “She was V, the stupid personal servant,” he added to Sharon’s shock.
They both took a sit across her. Sebastian took a glance toward her before turning to Sharon again. It hurts like hell to Vanz when Sebastian smiled to Sharon.
“Vanz, there you are,” Phelps’ voice surprised her.
She turned around to saw a well-built man with a white tuxedo—match well with her gown—and smiled back. “Phelps.”
Then before she could say anything more, Alexander enters the dining hall, and everyone bowed. He sat on the very beautiful chair at the end of the long table and smiled confidently toward his guests.
“Good evening, everyone. Tonight, we gather here because I am very happy to find both of my sons engaged.”
Vanz pinched Phelps’ hand when she heard that. Phelps could only smile awkwardly in return. Phelps notice the other prince glared at him, even though it seemed that Vanz did not pay attention to him at the moment and focus more to the speech.
The servants brought in the foods. It was all a high class food, and Vanz could not resist to help the servants that brought the heavy food to put it on the table before it falls.
“Do not help the servants!” The voice was strict as ever. The king.
“I, I... They need my help, it’s too heavy,” Vanz said, wrinkled her eyebrows.
Alexander sighed, and said, “You are not them again. Stop doing things unnecessary like that.”
Vanz bowed down, hiding her disgusted look toward the king. “Fine.”
“My apologize that I couldn’t stay long here because of my medical doctor,” he said again, looking at Phelps since he knew that Sebastian simply wish for that. “So I hope that my fine wine will fix that.”
“It’s an acceptable error, my father,” Phelps raised. “I would take care of everything from here.”
And the king left.
The party continued awkwardly at first, but when the four of them reached their seventh glass of wine, laughter and jokes filled the entire room. Hours of unstoppable craziness comes and bring more and more glass to break with plenty of wine still in it.
“Let’s race to the dancing hall upstairs!” Phelps cried helplessly, running toward the stairs. Soon, others were on the stairs too, running to the 11th floor, directly to the hall.
It was quite a travel and they were all drunk. Sharon fainted when she reached the third floor. Phelps, with the title of the one that could not take too much alcohol, fainted when he reached the sixth, as expected by all the servants that were in duty to bring the fainted people to their own room. He was the one that always fainted at the sixth floor, and confusingly always the one that suggest going to the dancing hall.
However, Sebastian and Vanz manage to go on.
Sebastian always led the race. Vanz was running breathlessly racing him. She was not as drunk as others were. Drunk indeed, but her sense was still there, and she felt strange when her body insisted to run after the prince.
Why did she do that? She has no idea. Looking at the backside of Sebastian somehow encourage her to run faster and faster, helplessly trying to catch him.
When they reached the fourth floor, Vanz was ten steps behind.
When they reached the sixth floor, Vanz was eight steps behind.
When they reached the eighth floor, Vanz was two steps behind.
When they reached the tenth floor, Vanz caught his tuxedo. Both of them quickly lost balance and fall to the cold surface of the floor.
Sebastian laughed madly, and he suddenly hugged her as the alcohol controlled his common sense. Vanz blushed furiously as respond to the hug.
Nevertheless, she missed it. A rough and warm hug from the prince. She could feel butterflies on her stomach, and her face was burning red. Few minutes pass with his laugh that soon began to slow down due the pain on his stomach. However, that few minutes wake Vanz up from her stupid assumption. Now she was sure.
She love him.
What heartbreak she received when she knew that feeling was inside her all the time. A tear fell from her beautiful eyes as she looked at Sebastian that still giggled a bit. That silly, selfish, handsome, unimaginable prince belongs to someone... Only not her.
So tonight, if someone will soon get Sebastian away from her, she should at least say it to him, even without him knowing. It was her last chance before he marries Sharon, before all things getting worse than it should be.
“Sebastian,” she breathed slowly, hoping that he would not remember this the day after, “I love you.”
“Aw, I love you too,” the prince answered randomly as he laughed cutely, surely not an answer to depend on.
“No, I meant,” she hesitate, unsure if she need to repeat it once more, “I really love you.”
“I love you too...!”
“No, listen, you don’t understand,” Vanz shook her head as she slipped out of his hug, “I am like... Really in love with you. You just hate me.”
The drunken prince seemed to be really out of his sense and smiled cutely. “I had already answered that I love you. Can I get a hug now?”
Vanz smiled bitterly as she nodded, pulling him to her embrace. Sebastian smiled and closed his eyes, sleeping soundly inside her loving arm. The girl laughed sadly and hugs him tighter. Soon, the effect of the wine hit her too, and she fell asleep.
Not long after she fell asleep, though, the prince slipped out of her arm. He stood up as he fixes his messy clothes. Looking at Vanz, he smiled softly. He fixed her bangs so that he can see her face clearly. A small drop of tear still flow out of her eyes. "And I really love you too," he whispered softly, “You just never know how I meant those lines just now.” He did not care whether she would notice it or not, but he decided to silently steal a kiss from her lips. He opened the scarf that covered her neck to saw the marks he left on her. He grinned as he found out that the marks were still there as he left them.
He did not dare to leave her alone, so he lied beside her and pretend to faint too. He could hear the footsteps of the servants coming for them.
And the night finally ended.
