The Selfish Prince part 9

Vanz slapped her alarm clock to the floor with a single swipe, groans, and rolls onto her other side. She haven’t done it lately. It was too tiring that she could not believe she have to spend the day before begging for job to the chef after finishing her problems with her mother. That was just not fair for the others if she didn’t work only because if the proposal that she didn’t even agree on yet!

The girl wants to open the window and tell the freaking birds to shut their beaks. She grumbles incoherently about the cacophony they're making, and buries her head under her pillow. She knew in within some minutes, Ian will get in and tried everything he could to wake her up.

On the other hand, Ian was trying hard to fix the clock once he gets into the room. He was going to wake her up, since he knew that if Vanz was in her bad mood, she would do everything to prevent her waking up in the morning.

Waken Vanz always draining his mood and patience. In the past he often seeing other servants, kicks the girl from the bed while screaming some insult to woke her up. It’s always turning effective, but Ian didn’t have a heart to do the same thing, especially since he knew that Vanz was a girl.

“Vanz, you need to wake up!” he said slowly as he shake the girl’s body to wake her up, trying to be as polite as possible since he was three years younger than her.

“Shut up...” She grumbled, falling off the bed and pulling her blankets with her. Tumbling to the floor, Vanz pushes at the blankets that cover her head, to no avail, until somebody plucks it off. She stares sleepily up at the figure in front of her.

“Hey, you need to get up, V, it’s seven in the morning,” Ian said.

“I’m fucking tired, Ian... Besides, no one will give me any job,” the girl replied softly as she yawned.

“Fine, I got a job for you,” he sighed.

In three seconds, Vanz was fully awake and hug him. “Oh, you’re a life saver! What kind of job is it? Oh, I’m so waiting for a job!”

“Stop hugging!” Ian stepped back quickly as he looked around anxiously. “Prince Sebastian isn’t around, right?”

Vanz directly frowned. “Oh, you mean the rule?”

“Yes. No one is allowed to hug you more than three seconds, remember? Since the first time Prince Sebastian parted from his favorite teddy bear, the rule showed up. It seemed that he would like to make you replacement of his doll,” Ian rolled his eyes.

“Let’s just go directly to the job!” Vanz smiled cheerfully. “What is it?”

“The new wines had arrived this morning and probably keep coming until next week, and I am in charge of the placement as usual,” Ian explained as he sighed heavily. “But I still have tons of clothes need to be laundry and I still need to cut the trees insight of the king’s room.”

“So you want me to arrange it for you?” she said as she nodded.

Ian smiled. “Oh, thank you! You’re so the best friend ever!”

Therefore, she ended up at the wine storage. There are five boxes of tempting wines and she need to put it to their section. Trying her best not to drink one of them, she finally took two hours to finish her job.

Just when she wanted to go outside, she bumped to a tall figure in a black tuxedo. Realizing who was he, Vanz hugged him.

“Leo!” She cried cheerfully.

As what Ian did before, Leonard quickly stepped back from the hug before it reached three seconds.

“Sebastian’s not here...” Vanz frowned and told him in protest. “Since when you also avoid my hug?”

Leonard giggled slowly as he helped Vanz to stand up. “Well, let’s see... Since the rule arrived to my ears and you’re engaged to my best friend forever?”

Rethorical question.

“Whatever,” the girl rolled her eyes in annoyance, streching her arms. “I wonder why you come here.”

“That depends on who am I talking to. Am I talking to the future queen of the country or to our little princess?” he asked as he bowed a little so that their eyes could meet at the same level.

“I prefer as your best friend,” Vanz answered quickly.

“Well, then,” Leonard walked into the storage and took a wine from the toppest shelf, “I’m here to take a wine to drink with Phelps tonight, princess. He seemed a bit tired of the preparation of his birthday,” and as he took a glance at her, he added, “And engagement.”

Vanz sighed. “I didn’t even say yes yet.”

“But you’re such a lucky girl,” Leonard made a cute face. “Phelps is a good person... If he asked me to marry him, I would definitely accept,” he said softly.

The girl looked at him in surprise. “He’s a guy!”

“Does that matter?” Leonard suddenly asked a very serious question as he looked deep into her eyes. “If someone you love is in the condition that you would be humiliated if you show it, but he also love you back, will it be a matter?”

In that case, it wouldn’t, she thought.

Vanz suddenly imagine Sebastian’s face.

Directly after, she slapped her own face lightly, making the other party burst into laugh.

“That isn’t funny!” Vanz pouted.

“You are funny,” he said as he walked away slowly from her to the other corridor. He suddenly stopped and turned at her. “Remember, princess, whatever you choose, you better follow your heart. Or else, you’ll suffer the rest of your life.”
